IN-SITU RESEARCH

ATLANTIC FOREST

Our group also monitor a Atlantic Forest fragment with 290ha located at the cities of Caapora – PB and Goiana – PE since 2005.

We have been monitoring the social and feeding behavior of a group of over 150 blond capuchin monkeys (Sapajus flavius) at mata da Divisa.

CAATINGA

Back in 2006, while teaching class, the leader and advisor of our lab, Renata Ferreira, was approached by a student that did research on Bothanics. He afirmed that spotted Capuchin Monkeys while doing his field work. Renata didnt take long to organize a field trip there and turned out he was right.

But more than that:

It was the very first registered ocurrence of Sapajus flavius in the Caatinga biome

Since then, our group have been monitoring this population and field site.

INSPIRA

For the monitoring of this population, we have a really special headquarters in a Private Reserve of Natural Heritage (RPPN) called Stoessel de Britto, ruled by a ONG called INSPIRA. Renata is also a member.
